Sometimes, your search results may include standards outside the library's SAI Global subscription, for example British Standards. When that happens, you can check to see if there is an equivalent standard covered by the library's subscription available.
For example:
Let's say, you performed a search for energy performance of buildings and your results list includes the British Standard BS EN 16798-3. British Standards are not included in the library's subscription.
To find out if there is an equivalent Irish or European standard:
First, search for the standard by number only - in this example 16798-3.
Select the standards tab
Type in the number, excluding the letters in front.
Immediately, you will see suggestions for an Irish and a European standard.
To be absolutely sure, click on the link for the British Standard. This will open the standard's product page.
Scroll down the page to the Equivalencies sectionand expand it.
Here you will see the European Norm 16798-3 is identical to the British Standard BS EN 16798-3.
Click on the link to the European norm EN 16798-3
The European Norm's product page tells you that you have access to an equivalent Irish Standard I.S. EN 16798-3.
To be certain, view the Equivalencies listed for the European Norm EN 16798-3. Here you will see the Irish Standard I.S. EN 16798-3 is identical to the European Norm EN 16798-3, which was identical to the British Standard BS EN 16798-3.
The green document icon indicates the Irish standard is covered by the Library's subscription and the full-text of the document is available for viewing/downloading.
