Proquest Ebook Central is an e-book platform, providing access to E-books from a range of publishers, and covering a wide range of subjects.
Some Proquest ebooks may be limited to one user at a time, or a maximum of three users at time.
To search Proquest Ebook Central
Enter your keywords in the search box and click Search
Ebook Central may return a very large number of results that match your keywords. Use the options at the left of the page to filter your list.
You can view more details about an ebook by clicking on its title link from the results list. There are a number of useful tools and features available from the Detailed Record.
From here you can:
Click on the Read Online icon to read the full text online. The ebook opens in the Ebook Central Reader.
From the navigation toolbar to the right of the text you can:

If you are using your own computer download an Ebook Academic Collections ebook you will need to download Adobe Digital Editions. This is available free from the ADE website. You will also need to create a free ADE personal account.
To download an eBook click the Full Download icon for the item from your search results list.
Select the device you are using
You will be prompted to download Adobe Digital Editions (ADE). Click on the Get Adobe Digital Editions link to go to the website and download the software.
Once you have downloaded ADE you will be asked to choose a download duration and format.
If you Open the file, your eBook is opened with Adobe® Digital Editions.
If you Save the file, the eBook is saved to your computer and can be opened with Adobe® Digital Editions at a later time.
Downloaded e-books can also be transferred to any mobile e-book reader that supports Adobe Digital Editions. There is a list of compatible devices on the ADE website.
If you are using an e-book reader, it is recommended that you download the EPUB format, rather than the PDF, which automatically re-sizes to fit your screen on any device.
Open the ebook in the Reader
Click on the print icon on the toolbar at the top of the page
Choose the number of pages you want to print
Click on the Open PDF button
To print the pages, open the saved PDF document and use the Adobe Print function at the top of the page.
Note: eBook pages saved as a PDF can be transferred to, and read on eReader devices such as the Nook or Kindle. Consult your device's user manual for instructions on how to manually transfer files to the device
All students and staff of MTU Kerry automatically have a personal Mulitisearch account, complete with a folder to store and organise your search results. Only you can access your personal folder. You are automatically logged into your account whenever you log into the MTU Kerry network using your T-Number and password (for example, to search Multisearch or the library catalogue).
Add an item to your Bookshelf
To add an item from your search results list to your Bookshelf click on the plus folder icon
Bookshelf Tools
There are a number of useful options available from your Bookshelf:
- provides a persistent link to your Bookshelf or folders.
- Emails the contents of your Bookshelf or folders.
- exports your Bookshelf or folder contents as a .csv file.
