Guide to using ACM Digital Library

Personal Account

A personal ACM Digital Library account allows you to:

  • save search results
  • create Binders (folders) and add content to them
  • share Binders with colleagues and students
  • create content alerts

To register for a free account, log into ACM Digital Library and click the Register button in the top right corner of the screen.

Enter your name, email address, security question and a password into the form.

Passwords:

  • must be numbers or letters
  • must contain between 8 and 26 characters in an alpha-numeric combination
  • cannot contain spaces 

Click the Continue button to submit the form.  A pop up confirmation message will confirm your account creation and your assigned username and you will receive an email with a link to confirm your account request.  Confirm the request.  Your account is now setup and ready to use.

To login to your ACM Digital Library account in future, click on Sign in

and select the Personal Account option and sign in using your username and password.

With an ACM Digital Library account, you can save searches to run again later and set up alerts to let you know when new content has been added.

1. Log into your personal account.

2. Run a search and view your search results.

3. Click on the Save Search button above your search results list.

4. Give your search a name.

5. Choose how often you want to receive a notification about new results.

6. Click Save Search.

 

To edit a saved search/alert:

1. Log into your personal ACM Digital Library account

2. Click on your name.

3. Click on My Saved Searches

4. Click the Change button.

5. Make your changes

6. Click Save

Folders are called "Binders" in ACM Digital Library.  To create a binder login to your personal account and:

  1. click on your name.
  2. click on My Binders.

3. Give your binder a name

4. Give your binder a description (optional)

5. Click Create Binder

 

To add content to your binder:

6. Select one or more search results

7. Multiple results selected, click on the Save to Binder button above your search results list

8. Single result selected, click on the +Binder icon for that search result.
