Basic Search (also called Global Search by IEEE) is useful for general searching or scoping a topic. The Basic Search box is available from the IEEE Xplore home page and most other pages in the database.
1. Enter one or more keywords in the search box.
2. Click the All drop‐down menu to see more search options.
3. Click the Search icon (magnifying glass).
Search Tips:
Use Boolean Operators (AND OR and NOT) to connect your keywords together and narrow or broaden your search
AND finds results containing both keywords e.g. hybrid AND vehicle. IEEE Xplore automatically ANDs your keywords.
OR finds results containing either one or both keywords e.g. hybrid AND (vehicle OR car OR automobile)
NOT excludes a keyword from your search results e.g. hybrid AND vehicle NOT bus. Warning: using NOT may result in your search not returning some results that are relevant.
Use quotation marks (" ") to search for a phrase or words together in an exact order e.g. "hybrid electric vehicle" AND battery.
