Guide to using IEEE Xplore

Your results list

When you perform a search in IEEE Xplore, the database returns a list of results that match your search terms. By default, the results will be sorted in order of relevance.  View the Sort By drop-down menu to see other options for sorting your results. 

 

1. The search for hybrid vehicles and "vibration control" returned 65 results.

2. By ticking the Subscribed Content box you will see only results you can access in full text.

3. A green open padlock icon indicates the Full Text is available for viewing online/download. 

4. You can use the filters on the left to limit your results by year, author, publisher, topic and more.

5. Click on the Abstract link to see a summary of the article and quickly find out if it is useful to you.

6. Click on the title link to read the article online.

7. Click on the PDF icon to download or print a copy of the article.

8. The Search within results search box allows you to enter a new keyword to search the results of your previous search. For example, if you search for "Hybrid electric vehicle" and then search within results for "self-charging", the search will return results containing both hybrid electric vehicle AND self-charging.

9. Look for similar or related results that display when you read an article by clicking on it's title link.
